Legal Disclaimer & Terms of Use

Last Updated: March 2026

By using TexasPowerCost.com (the "Site"), you acknowledge and agree to the following terms, conditions, and disclaimers. If you do not agree, please discontinue use of our analysis tools immediately.

1. Estimation Tool Only (No Guarantee of Accuracy)

TexasPowerCost provides electricity rate estimates using a proprietary linear interpolation algorithm based on market filings. These figures are intended for comparative purposes. Because electricity providers utilize complex billing structures—including "bill credit cliffs," tiered usage steps, and base charges—our estimates may differ from your actual monthly statement.

"We do not guarantee that any rate displayed on this site is currently available or that it will result in a specific bill amount. All calculations are mathematical projections."

2. The "Source of Truth" (EFL Requirement)

The only legally binding document for any Texas electricity plan is the Electricity Facts Label (EFL). TexasPowerCost is not responsible for discrepancies between our Site and the official EFL. Users are strictly required to review the EFL and Terms of Service (TOS) provided by the Retail Electric Provider (REP) before enrolling.

3. Excluded Charges (TDU & Taxes)

Unless explicitly stated, our estimates focus on energy-only charges. Most calculations exclude:

  • TDU Delivery Charges: Pass-through fees from utilities like Oncor, CenterPoint, or TNMP.
  • Taxes: State, local, and federal regulatory taxes.
  • Service Fees: One-time connection fees, late fees, or early termination fees (ETF).
  • Bill Credits: Incentives that only trigger at specific usage "cliffs."

4. Independent Entity Disclosure

TexasPowerCost is a privately owned analysis platform. We are not a Retail Electric Provider (REP) and we do not sell electricity directly. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or operated by the Public Utility Commission of Texas (PUCT), ERCOT, or the "Power to Choose" state portal.

5. Monetization & Neutrality

To keep our precision tools free, TexasPowerCost may receive compensation through lead generation, affiliate links, or display advertising (such as Google AdSense). While this compensation supports our infrastructure, it does not alter the mathematical output of our interpolation engine. We sort by the math, not the payout.

6. Limitation of Liability

In no event shall TexasPowerCost or its owners be liable for any financial loss, damages, or dissatisfaction resulting from the use of our estimates or the subsequent enrollment in a third-party electricity plan. All financial decisions are made at the sole discretion of the user.
